The international project CEBCAT (Capacity Building for the Transition to a Circular Economy), coordinated by the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC) through CRETUS, is currently advancing in Hanoi the strengthening of international cooperation in circular economy, consolidating the centre’s role at a global level.
CRETUS researcher Óscar Rodil, from the Department of Applied Economics, leads this international initiative, which aims to reinforce education, research and academic collaboration between universities in Europe and Asia in the transition towards more sustainable economic models.
Within the framework of the international meeting held from 20 to 24 April in the Vietnamese capital, the USC team coordinates the working activities with project partners. These sessions make it possible to assess progress, share best practices and advance in the design of specialised training programmes in circular economy.
Among the key points of the meeting, the sessions focused on the creation and consolidation of research units in Asian universities stand out, as well as the progress made in the design and implementation of an international master’s programme in this field. Key issues such as academic accreditation processes, the development of teaching materials, and strategies to ensure the sustainability and dissemination of the project’s results are also addressed.
CRETUS’s coordination of CEBCAT strengthens the centre’s international projection, positioning it as a key player in knowledge generation and in the training of professionals and researchers prepared to address the challenges of the ecological transition at a global scale.
