he Director of the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI), José Manuel Fernández de Labastida, visited the Centre for Cross-disciplinary Research in Environmental Technologies (CRETUS) on Thursday as part of his institutional tour of the research centres of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC).
The delegation also included Lourdes Armesto López, Director of Scientific and Technological Management at the AEI; Gonzalo Arévalo Nieto, Senior Advisor to the Director General; María José Mariño Fontenla, Director of the Talent and Knowledge Transfer Area at the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN); and Almudena Hospido Quintana, Vice-Rector for Research and Open Science at USC. The delegation was welcomed by CRETUS Deputy Director Sarah Fiol and the centre’s Technology Manager, Sonia Suárez.
During the visit, the delegation toured CRETUS’s facilities to explore the centre’s scientific activities, research infrastructures and some of its flagship projects, including two initiatives funded by the European Research Council (ERC). The visit also provided an opportunity to present CRETUS’s interdisciplinary and holistic research model, which brings together expertise from different fields to address the complexity of today’s environmental challenges.
