Jorge González-Rodríguez, Aly Castillo Zamora, Cristina Candal Pedreira, Julia Rey Brandariz and Beltrán Puentes Cociña received today their Extraordinary Doctorate Awards together with the rest of the awardees in an institutional event held at the Colegio de Fonseca in Santiago de Compostela.

The ceremony, chaired by the chancellor of the USC, distinguished the best doctoral theses defended during the 2023/2024 academic year. This recognition has a special value due to the high level of competition of the call promoted by the USC, which this edition received close to 130 works.

Outstanding results
The CRETUS’s researchers achieved very outstanding results in their respective sub-areas of knowledge, obtaining some of the best grades in the highly competitive call:

  • Julia Rey, obtained the highest qualification of the entire call (100 points) in Health Sciences
  • Cristina Candal, the second best score in Health Sciences (95.09).
  • Jorge González, best score in the Engineering sub-area (97.04).
  • Beltrán Puentes, received the only Extraordinary Prize awarded in the sub-area of ​​Law out of the 7 nominations submitted.
  • Aly Castillo, distinguished in the sub-area of ​​Chemistry and Chemical Technology out of 16 submitted for this area.
