The University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) is ranked in the 151–200 range worldwide in Environmental Science & Engineering, according to the latest edition of ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. With this result, USC is among the three highest-ranked Spanish universities in this discipline, alongside the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
This position highlights the strength and international reach of research carried out at USC in the field of environmental science and engineering, and is particularly significant for CRETUS, the Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Environmental Technologies, given its specialisation in this scientific and technological field.
The recognition is particularly significant given the focus of the ShanghaiRanking, which assesses universities based on indicators related to the activity, quality and impact of their research. These include outstanding scientific output, the impact of publications, the presence of leading researchers and international collaboration.
The result therefore strengthens the international visibility of environmental research at USC and highlights the contribution of its research structures, including CRETUS, to the development of knowledge and technological solutions to address today’s environmental challenges.
