Professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health. Extraordinary doctoral award. Four six-year terms. More than 350 articles published in journals with an impact factor, more than half of which are in first-quartile journals, including BMJ, Lancet, Lancet Oncology, etc. H-index 48, more than 12,000 citations. He has been principal investigator of more than 20 competitive research projects. Director of the Chair of Environmental Health, Ministry of Health-University of Santiago, and Coordinator of Epidemiology of the Spanish Lung Cancer Group. He has supervised 24 doctoral theses, several of them with international mention and two with extraordinary doctoral awards. He has been awarded two Fulbright scholarships from the US Department of State in collaboration with the Spanish Ministry of Education. He has also held research residencies at the Harvard and Brown Schools of Public Health (USA), with seven research residencies at the latter American university. Director of the Galician Radon Laboratory, accredited by ENAC for radon measurement. Epidemiology Coordinator of the Spanish Lung Cancer Group. President of the Scientific Committee of the National Congresses of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology in 2015 and 2025. Editor of various scientific publications indexed in JCR. He has given invited lectures in the United States, Colombia, Portugal, Iran, Germany, and Finland. Coordinator of the ESPASS Epidemiology Group at the University of Santiago de Compostela
