Challenges of the biological conversion of residues into carboxylates

July 10 @ 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Objective

This symposium is meant to serve as a forum for experts to discuss the main current and future challenges: What are the suitable technologies for the conversion of residues into chemicals and in particular, carboxylates?, Which substrates are more appropriate to be transformed?, How to utilize the vast modelling capacities in the design of bioprocesses?, What are the downstream options to purify the carboxylates or to obtain other value-added products?. The symposium is conceived with a limited number of delegates (approx. 50-60) to ensure smooth debate and discussions during the sessions and breaks. All the sessions count with time for debate and exchange in a friendly environment.

Topics

    • Technological alternatives for the biological conversion of residues into carboxylates
    • Downstream challenges
    • Bioprocess design strategies and tools
    • Bringing the process to industrial practice

Call for papers
The oral presentations will be selected out of the submitted abstracts which must be written in English with a maximum extension of 1 page and sent by email with the subject “Symposium CARBOXYLATES Abstract” to carboxylates@usc.gal. The abstract submission has been extended to 31st March 2025.
