From Species Distribution Models to Spatial Predictions of Nature’s Contributions to People

On Monday, May 11, at 1:00 p.m., Professor Antoine Guisan (University of Lausanne, Switzerland) will give a lecture on biodiversity modeling. It will be held in the Salón de Graos of the Faculty of Biology. Professor A. Guisan is one of the leading international experts in modeling species distribution, the impact of climate change, and biodiversity conservation, with a special focus on mountain ecosystems and, therefore, of particular interest in a context of global change. He is one of the most cited researchers in Ecology (Highly Cited Researcher [Clarivate, 2025], World’s Top 2% Scientist [“Stanford Ranking”, Ioannidis 2025]), with more than 100,000 citations on Google Scholar. This lecture is especially recommended for undergraduate students in Biology and students in the Master’s programs in Terrestrial and Marine Biodiversity, as well as researchers in the field of the environment.
