Vicente Pérez Muñuzuri has been a professor at the Faculty of Physics at the University of Santiago de Compostela since 2021. He was the founder and director of MeteoGalicia (a regional meteorological service dependent on the Galician Govenment, Xunta de Galicia) from 2000 to 2014, and Vice-Rector for Research at the USC from 2018 to 2023.

He has edited three books, three special issues of an international journal and has published more than 140 articles in JCR journals including Nature (1), Phys. Rev. Lett. (8), Phys. Rev. E (32), Scientific Reports (2) and PLOS Comput. Biol. (1). He has been principal investigator of several national and international projects. Currently, he is involved in projects related to nonlinear physics and fluid dynamics. In terms of knowledge transfer, it is worth highlighting the creation of a spin-off of the University of Santiago de Compostela,  FlowReserve S.L., in 2020 to transfer knowledge related to fluid dynamics in biological systems.

In recent years, research activity has focused primarily on the study of Lagrangian and inertial particle transport in fluids. This includes the movement of micro- and macroplastics in the ocean (Interreg FreeLitter, CleanAtlantic, and MyCOAST projects), particle transport in biophysical media (Ministerio CarriersFlow and Interreg NewHeart projects), modeling vertigo in humans, water vapor transport considered as particles with a mass that can change over time (e.g., in atmospheric rivers), and inertial particle transport in compressible fluids. All these activities have led to numerous research articles in JCR journals, conferences, and doctoral theses.
